Why Choose a Multi-Stone Ring?

Posted on:  March 10th, 2010

For starters, a multi-stone ring should not be limited to engagement rings as they can be used for many different occasions; even just for spoiling that special someone! Multi-stone rings can double-up as wedding rings, engagement rings and eternity rings; and all add that extra sparkle and beauty that the wearer deserves.

Multi-stone rings come with a varied different number of diamonds but typically appear on 18-carat gold bands in 4 or 6-claw settings; both of which allow plenty of light through to show the diamonds astonishing beauty.

Multi-stone rings can come with 3 to 7 diamonds and of various different diamond cuts depending on each and everyone’s own personal choice. Smaller diamond multi-stone rings are becoming increasingly popular as wedding bands as opposed to the traditional plain gold band, and it’s not hard to see why. Having extra diamonds accompanying your already sparkling engagement ring just adds to the overall beauty of your wedding ring set! Equally, wedding bands can be customized to accompany the engagement ring, particularly if the stone is of the larger diamond variety.

Multi-stone rings are also available in the more limited editions which often include a more tinted diamond in the centre; for example, a yellow diamond. This adds to the beauty of the ring and can considerably add to its overall value too.

Multi-stone rings ooze sophistication and can add a much more modern twist to your ring. Here at Marlows Certified Diamonds we offer a vast range of multi-stone rings that range from the limited editions to 3 to 7 stones. All of our rings are of the highest quality and every woman adorned with one will definitely be the envy of her friends!

The Allure Of Diamond Solitaire Engagement Rings

Posted on:  February 23rd, 2010

Diamond solitaire engagement rings are hugely popular, but what are they?  In a nutshell, solitaire means one or single.  In terms of engagement rings it relates to the rings having one diamond.  There are no accent stones or side stones and no other embellishments.  The single diamond speaks for itself.

This does not mean that diamond solitaire engagement rings are dull or excessively simplistic.  For many women, they symbolise the eternal love of a couple with simple elegance in the one brilliant shining stone.

When choosing solitaire diamond rings the big debate usually surrounds just how big a diamond should be chosen.  When choosing a solitaire diamond, you may feel under pressure to choose a larger than average diamond to compensate for the lack of detail.  However, this is not necessary and there are other considerations that will show the ring off to its full advantage without taking such a step.

A small stone when set on a thinner band will show off the diamond to its full advantage and creates a delicate elegance which will complement slender fingers.  A band can be two-toned or patterns can be etched in it to add more detail and depth.  Another idea is to add a curve or wave to the ring which will attract attention to the whole of the ring rather than just the diamond.

At Marlows we have a beautiful range of diamonds that can be chosen for diamond solitaire engagement rings.  We are experts in helping our customers find the perfect engagement ring for their specific requirements.

Things To Consider When Picking Out A Special Diamond

Posted on:  February 10th, 2010

When choosing diamonds for engagement rings, there are a number of factors that can be considered.  It is not quite enough to focus purely on your personal taste for the cut of the stone.  Factors such as the geometry of the stone and whether or not you want to have accents stones will all influence your choice.  Here are some considerations:

Band width

The width of the band on engagement rings can affect which shape of stone will look best.  An extremely wide band will look better with stones that are elongated.  Stones that are longer may appear to be excessive for bands that are quite narrow and delicate.

Finger and hand size

It is essential that diamond engagement rings look stunning on the fingers of women.  Engagement rings are worn constantly so they need to be suited to the hand.  A ring should complement the hand and the finger.  Most fingers look gorgeous with a rounded stone, but slender, long fingers will look best with princess cut diamonds.  Women with short fingers will look superb with oval, pear or marquise shapes.

Trends

Although some women love to follow the fashions of Hollywood stars when choosing diamonds, it’s quite important to choose a diamond shape that will be effective when the short-lived trend is over.  For this reason, many prudent women select their jewellery based on the different criteria that have been elaborated.

At Marlows we have an exquisite range of diamonds to make your engagement ring unforgettable.

Take A Look At The Four Cs – Part 1

Posted on:  February 5th, 2010

When looking for diamonds you need to educate yourself about the big four elements of diamond purchasing: cut, colour, carat and clarity.  When talking to a jeweller these are the areas that you are likely to cover when making your choice.  When looking for the perfect engagement rings it is imperative that you have some knowledge of each area to ensure you get the best value for your money.

The colour of diamonds

Diamonds are assigned letter grades according to the colour they possess.  A completely colourless diamond is an extremely rare occurrence, which pushes up its value.  Those that are at the peak of the colourless range tend to be categorised as D, E or F, whereas those diamonds with an obvious brown or yellow tinge will be rated from S to Z.  The rest of the diamonds will be graded somewhere in between.  When choosing diamonds for diamond jewellery opt for the lowest letter your budget will allow.

The cut of diamonds

While it pays to do a little research on what cut your partner likes you can still ensure that the quality is high, regardless of the shape.  When cut well, light will reflect from the top of the diamond as well as from within the gemstone.  This will give it a brilliant look.  If you use a trustworthy supplier of diamonds, who can provide testimonials from satisfied customers, you should not have to worry about the cut.

At Marlows we have an expert team to guide you through buying the perfect diamond engagement rings and wedding rings.

Engagement Rings: The Setting, Certification And Warranty

Posted on:  January 19th, 2010

When choosing diamond engagement rings you want to make sure you make the perfect choice to please your fiancée. Budget, diamond know how, a good jeweller and metal type are some of the other areas to consider. Below are some points to bear in mind when buying engagement rings that can otherwise be forgotten in the rush of excitement to purchase a ring:

The setting for diamonds

Choosing a setting for your diamond or diamonds can be one of the most complicated choices. There are so many settings to choose from such as three stone settings, channel settings, bridal sets and the popular solitaire settings.  These are just some of the traditional settings and more are becoming available all the time.

Certification and appraisal

You need to ensure that diamonds are provided with an appraisal of the value.  Make sure that the jeweller lets you know if any treatments have been used such as laboratory enhancements or fillers.  If there haven’t been any treatments you should get a certificate of authenticity.  When you come to insure your ring, this certificate will be important.

Warranty

Finally you should make sure there is a decent warranty with diamond engagement rings.  By getting rings maintained in this way you can ensure that it remains as sparkling and brilliant as the first day you wore it.

Here at Marlows we will be happy to help you make the right choice from our exquisite selection of diamond engagement rings.

Toasting The Happy Couple

Posted on:  January 7th, 2010

When a couple gets engaged there will usually be a gathering of friends and family to toast the happy couple. It is a chance for everyone to get together and celebrate this exciting occasion and the bride-to-be can show off her new and shining engagement rings.

The tradition of the engagement toast stretches back many years and there is etiquette to follow with toasting, just as there is at weddings. After the lucky lady has shown off her engagement rings, there should be an order to the proceedings. Here is an overview of how the toasting should traditionally follow:

Parental toast

There was a time when this role was exclusively reserved for the father of the bride-to-be followed by the groom-to-be’s father.  However, nowadays the mother and father of both sides can raise a toast.

Sibling toast

Next it is the turn of the brothers and sisters.

Grandparent toast

At this point the grandparents can toast although there are some who ask the grandparents to toast before the siblings.

Close relative toast

This is where close relatives such as cousins, special aunts and uncles can offer a toast after the immediate family.

Best Friends

At this stage best friends can toast.  If the couple have already chosen the best man and the maid of honour they would start the proceedings but at this stage that is unusual.

Other friends

Now anyone else who wishes to toast the couple can say a few words.

At Marlows we have a stunning range of diamond engagement rings and wedding rings for you to choose from.  We can ensure that you find the diamond engagement rings of your dreams.

Diamond anniversary rings are given in the main to celebrate an important milestone such as a long-term marriage or the date of another important event, such as starting your family or launching your new business. The main designs for diamond anniversary rings are:

Three stone rings – the triple diamond ring has three matching diamonds which represent the past, present and future

A diamond for the right hand

Posted on:  October 28th, 2009

A trend that has risen greatly in popularity recently is the diamond ring worn on the right hand. A right hand diamond ring must not be confused with the traditional diamond engagement ring and diamond wedding rings worn on the left hand. Women will always wear these special rings on the ring finger of the left hand.

The right hand diamond ring has completely different symbolism than those rings normally worn on the left hand. The designs chosen for right hand diamond rings are usually very different from designs that are popular for matrimonial rings.

Multi-stone diamond rings are the norm for a right hand ring as well as slightly smaller stones than those chosen for diamond engagement rings. We understand the need for right hand diamond rings.

That is why all our designs are offered with varying sizes in diamonds to accommodate people that look for right hand rings. Not only do we offer varying diamond sizes, but to broaden the choice most of our rings can be done in yellow gold, white gold or platinum.

Why a right hand ring?

Although seemingly unusual, right hand diamond rings are also very popular as gifts that have meanings other than engagements and weddings. It is a sign of being involved with another person and men are fond of buying a diamond ring for the right hand of their love interest, whether they are married to the lady or not.
